We’re getting down to the end of the year, which means it’s time to work on holiday gifts and get started on next year’s cosplans and other projects. Except I can’t, because my workspace is a $*@& show. Oh my God. It has been like this for months now. How did I let it get so bad? At least somebody isn’t bothered. So I am going to take the power of video deadlines and peer pressure—thank you for the peer pressure, by the way—and see what we can do to get organized and ready to rock and roll in the new year. Let’s get to work. First things first, I need some space to work. So I’m going to take everything out of here and get cleaned up. And yes, this is absolutely going to take a few days. I’m not even sure I can get it all done before I upload this video. So we may be looking at a long-term project here. You know how some people live in a mess, but it’s their mess and they know where everything is? That’s no longer how this is for me. My organized chaos has turned into just utter chaos. I know I’m getting a bit vulnerable on main, but this room has become a source of stress for me and just not a space where I feel creative and motivated to see a project through to the end. I had a number of projects I had hoped to start already for next year, but I just didn’t want to be in my studio. So now I’m behind on those projects. Long story short, I just want to thank you again for being a part of this journey and allowing me to tackle this on my own, but knowing I have your support. Plus, this gives me a chance to give you guys a proper workspace organization tour—finally!—once I get it all in shipshape and ready for review. I can’t really think of a better way to do this than to vaguely categorize things and figure out what I want to store together. And I guess just put those things into a pile. Then I can figure out a storage solution once I know how much of that thing—be it fabric, yarn, notions, whatever—that I have. I am using my temporarily empty holiday bins to help consolidate the piles of fabric that I have, which come in all shapes and sizes. I already have an okay system for storing fabric, but I’m taking this opportunity to clean up my shelves and decide if there’s any fabric to donate to my local thrift craft store, or toss, because it’s not worth saving. I recently picked up a new piece of furniture that I am very excited to get in here and use for storage purposes. It’s not in perfect condition, but who is? I just love the sort of medieval vibes it has going on, and I truly think it’s going to be perfect in here. It is technically a sort of bar cabinet, but I think I want to use it for scrap fabric that won’t fold up or fit on the shelves nicely. Having a space to just ball something up and toss it in and forget about it for a while is kind of a must for me. I’m also going to need a place to keep my regular old office stuff—my laptop, my mic stand, things like that. And this Hannah-made desk slash tabletop workspace didn’t come with drawers for some reason. Probably the same reason I forget to put pockets in any of my sewing projects. So to help with this, I’m going to put a two-cube storage shelf under here to give me a spot to store my tech stuff when I’m sewing or crafting. I’m someone who needs to see what it is that I have to work with. A lack of object permanence, if you will. It’s why, for example, I have two of the same rotary cutter. And just a bunch of duplicate notions. So my goal here is to sort of display a lot of my materials and tools so that I know what I have available to me. And if it’s something that needs to be boxed, binned, or jarred, then that box, bin, or jar needs to have a label. Enter the label maker. This bad boy is going to make so many...

It's finally getting cold outside, and I don't know about you, but I am in need of some coziness. And what better way to get cozy than to make a fleece onesie that will double as a cosplay? In this house, we love *Delicious in Dungeon*, and after doing a Ren Faire cosplay with some of my friends this past season, I knew I wanted to keep cosplaying characters from the series and recreating some of the looks. So let's check one off the list and start with Marcille’s frog suit from, I think, episode ten. I'm going to start with a unisex onesie jumpsuit I found online. I'll link to it down below, but I need to make some adjustments to better fit my froggy needs. Where I split the pattern to accommodate the stripes in the frog suit, I made sure to go back and add a quarter-inch seam allowance so that they fit together when I sew the front and back pieces back up. Yep. I pretty much scrapped the hood that came with the pattern in order to get the frog suit head shape. I tried to be mindful of making the neck hole of the hood match the neck hole of the rest of the suit, but we'll see how that goes. I added a seam allowance as I cut the pieces out and embraced the not-so-straight and even lines in favor of looking like I whipped this frog suit up while dungeon diving. I did cut the eyes—yes, they’re eyes, not cute little ears—separately from the rest of the head so I could create little pouches filled with some scrap polyfill and give a more rounded eyeball appearance. It’s neat how the eye parts make it look like we have little ears. Okay, I am surprised that this is coming together as well as it is for completely freehanding all of this. This is a little floppy, so I think I'm going to come back and just add an iron-on stabilizer to maintain the wide shape that is required. Other than that, as long as the neckline fits into the neckline on the rest of the onesie, then I’m golden. I think I will be very, very happy with this. Now that we have the onesie completed and most, if not all, of the stitching detail added, the last step I have here to complete the cosplay is to make gloves and shoe coverings to wear on the con floor when I'm taking photos or, you know, whenever I need the full cosplay. Because the suit is based off of a frog monster, the fingers and toes are elongated and have interesting little frog-like pads at the end of each appendage. To achieve this look, I picked up a bunch of rubber thimbles. I tested them on my sewing machine and I’m able to sew through them, so I think I’m going to attach them to some slightly elongated gloves that I’ll pattern myself. Easy enough. Let’s see how it goes. On the first glove, I made the mistake of cutting really close to the seam line when I should have left plenty of room and cut more precisely after sewing the two sides together. I remembered that glove-sewing hack about halfway through the second one. Oh, well. Is this the best cosplay I've ever made? Yes. No further questions. I don't think I will ever take this off, except that I absolutely will because these are very, very warm gloves. I was aiming for cozy, and I got cozy. Turns out this wasn’t the right day to turn the heat on in our house. I don’t know what it was about this costume that I was dreading working on. I think I was nervous about taking apart a pattern that I know works and then putting it back together with the different stripes and shapes for the hood. There were so many opportunities for me to fail along the way, or to mess up a pattern, or not get lucky. But I think I got lucky just a few times throughout, and I am very grateful for that. In terms of what I can do better and want to work on, one of the gloves is a little tighter than the other one, and the other one fits pretty nicely. They probably could be a little bit longer and come a little further down my forearm, but I’ll fix that. Oh. I have always wanted this channel to playfully capture my escapism, and what a privilege it is that I have to have the opportunity to escape and to share it with you. I don't want to dwell on it too long, but I do want to encourage you, dear viewer, to allow yourself the space and the time to live in whatever fantasy that a book or a film, or that I and other fellow YouTubers can offer you right now. But it can only be temporary. Come back to this world that we live in. Rested and ready to take action to build up and protect the rights of our communities to exist. I love you, and I am so grateful and honored that you're here with me right now. Okay, so in light of feeling so small right now, I've been looking to small characters for inspiration, small characters who overcame obstacles so much bigger than them. There's good in this world used for me, and it's worth fighting for. So with a fantasy ball in a week and a desire to armor myself up metaphorically and physically. If I'm being honest, I have decided to take on my biggest, baddest chainmail project yet. I want to make a mithril chainmail gown to wear to an upcoming fantasy fest, mithril. Let me show you what I'm thinking. As always, this is a rough sketch work rough just to get me started because I only have a week and some change to put this look together. I've actually purchased two butcher aprons to give me a sort of pre-trained starting point. These aprons are both dainty and heavy duty at the same time, and they come with a sort of neckline and waistline that I think I can work with. Now, for this particular woman in armor, look, I'm actually going to lean away from, like, Joan of Arc and Galadriel and lean towards more of the Zendaya and Chappell looks. I kind of want to make this high fashion, and I've given myself like a week to do it. Classic, Hannah. Well, let's get to work. I had to start by removing most of the metal pieces that are meant to have apron straps attached. It was rather tedious, but not as serious as having to actually make chainmail with rings this small. So I'm happy with this choice. I did repurpose four of these connection points in order to meet my own strap related needs. Okay. So far, I am. I'm pretty happy with this. As you can probably guess, this is already pretty heavy. I definitely want to reinforce the, like, small rings that are holding these on. And I'm still not sure about the placement here. I wanted to get sort of the same drapey moment. We're getting in the back in the front, hopefully without adding or taking away any additional rings, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure about the neckline right now, but I am really loving the drapey ness of the back. But I do think I need to like, bring up the side seams a little bit to pull this up into the right spot. Plus, I just love that open back. I think that makes with the sheer ness of the mesh definitely has me questioning what I'm going to wear underneath. I'm going to keep thinking about it, might try a few different things, but I'm currently leaning towards just getting some skin toned undergarments and kind of leaning into that like sheer chaperon red carpet look. We'll see. We'll see where I'm at. And then lastly I do I want to extend this. The goal is to have some think floor length. I don't have any more rings that are this size to make more mesh. And I don't know if I'm going to have time to order more, but my original idea was to create sort of a two tone look with like, different material at the bottom. So now my question is, do I want to do more chain mesh using a similar size ring to my straps and belt, or do I want to do some scale now? I think I'm going to have to just take inventory of what I currently have, and then decide based off of that. Today feels like a good day. To destroy some things. I have decided to go with rings

We're getting down to the end of faire season, and we'll be closing down the Maryland Renaissance Festival this weekend. And the best way to do that? Fine leather goods. At least I hope they'll be fine. Because as you probably gathered from the title of this video, I'm making a leather bodice to wear alongside my friends for the closing weekend. And we're not making just any old leather bodice here. Let's add a little bit of spice. I want to go for an autumnal mushroom in the woods look, to kind of go along with some of the more nature-inspired looks that my friends are planning. I'm actually going to start with a cosplay bodice pattern, which I'll link to down below, but rather than cutting the pattern pieces from foam, I'm going to cut them from leather. Alrighty, it’s day two. I have half of my leather pieces cut out with the holes pre-punched for stitching. And that took me, like, all evening yesterday. I don't know if I've mentioned this yet, but it's Wednesday. I started this yesterday, and the faire is on Saturday. I've given myself three more days to work on this. So, yeah, I'm going to get the other half of the bodice pieces cut out as quickly as I can. Then I can get started on using some of these stamps to add a little bit of texture, a little bit of a pattern to the bodice pieces themselves. Then, if the stars align, maybe we can even get to some dyeing tonight too. That is a tall order for today, so wish me luck. Look at how cute these turned out. I actually do really, really like them. I really like the texture. The mushrooms are maybe a little more psychedelic funky than I was trying to go for, but I do still think it's a cute little detail. To round out the specific mushroom detail, I think I will go ahead and get some dye out tonight, and add just a little bit of red dye to the tops of the mushrooms. I don't want to finish dyeing the rest of the pieces because I still need to punch holes for the stitching, which I'm so excited to get to. I can't wait to stitch this together, but I ordered a tabletop hand-press hole punch, so I am going to wait on that. It should be arriving tomorrow. So, yeah, a little bit of red dye to the tops of the mushrooms, and then that'll be all the dyeing I do for this evening. Speaking of mushrooms, I found a pattern—well, I guess it's a bunch of patterns—for leather mushrooms from Nils Beardfoot. Specifically, leather mushrooms that are meant to sort of adorn other leather pieces, like leather chest armor or a leather bodice. I want to use a couple of these patterns to add little fungi to my leather bodice. I'm sorry, that was so bad. Okay, it's day three. I believe I have all of the pieces cut out that I'm going to need for the rest of this project. Cutting the leather pattern pieces seems so far to be the hardest part of all of this, so I'm glad that's over. I still haven't received my tabletop hole punch press, so in the meantime, while I wait for that to arrive, I am going to work on putting together my mushrooms. So now that I have all of the panels ready to go for the actual bodice of the piece, in terms of cutting, punching holes, adding stamps, and some texture, I'm ready to dye the leather. However, I can't find my dye. So what I'm going to do instead is leave it undyed but add an antique finish to the piece. This is a dark brown antique finish. I was doing some testing just to see what color it might change to and see how it would fit in with the grooves and the red color that I've already added to the piece from a dye, and I think I'm pretty happy with that. As Halloween season draws near, I am once again inspired by my favorite autumnal show. That’s right, I’ve just finished my first rewatch of Over the Garden Wall this year, and it’s not going to be my last rewatch either. From what I understand, there’s supposed to be a gift from The Unknown to celebrate the show’s ten-year anniversary on November 3rd. Very mysterious. Regardless, I want to celebrate the show too. And I think the best way I know how is to make a giant Enoch for my front yard Halloween decorations. Enoch is essentially a spirit that typically manifests in an animated pumpkin Maypole of sorts. He only really makes an appearance in, I think, the second episode of the show, with a cameo in the finale. He’s a very iconic character, and I think he’ll make the perfect lawn decor. But it needs to be big. Oh, are you coming to help? Meow. Meow. Meow. I’m not positive how I’m going to make (1) a weatherproof piece and (2) a big enough piece that I can also store in my attic, but I have some ideas, and it all starts with this 42-inch beach ball. Let’s get to inflating. I kind of think it needs to be bigger. It’s going to be the centerpiece of the entire front yard decor, high off the ground, so I just think we need to go bigger. I’ll do some research and see if I can order a bigger beach ball. So yeah, this is definitely bigger. I’m really hoping it’s not too big. Now that we have it fully inflated— which took about 15 minutes, even with the machine— I’ll take each of these panels and turn them into a sewing pattern. I ordered some orange waterproof fabric in two different shades to achieve the pumpkin head look while keeping it weatherproof, or at least more weatherproof. Okay, let’s cut some fabric. These are the two shades of orange I got. I think they might be a little bright, so I might have to come back and do some weathering. But overall, I’m pretty happy since both are relatively weatherproof. I only got three yards of each, and I think that’ll be enough... but I’m kind of scared to find out. Even if it’s not enough to do three full pieces of each color (since I need six in total), I should have enough to scrap a few together if it comes to that. A little bit of patchwork never hurt anybody. I also got this green fabric, which I think will work nicely as the streamer portion of Enoch. It’s two-sided with two different shades, which helps with the color variation of the streamers. Can you tell I’m a bit nervous about this? All right, let’s figure out if we have enough fabric. Okay, it fits. I was a little nervous about that. I’ve deflated it slightly so I can pin everything into place and then re-inflate it to make sure it all fits. For the final seam, I’ll connect the two pieces so I can wrap it around when it’s fully inflated. I thought about using a zipper or Velcro, but I think snaps will hold up best outdoors. I’ll pin everything in place, position the snaps, and make sure it works before moving on. I love him. Is he perfect? No, but for my skill level—especially when it comes to painting—I’m delighted. I finished the paint with some Mod Podge to seal it, and so far, so good. The beach ball’s integrity might be the biggest issue. I’ll probably need to pump it up once or twice before Halloween, but we set him up on a pulley system, so taking him down and putting him back up will be easy. I had considered making a chicken wire cage to replace the ball, but it was just too big and wouldn’t have stored well. If you have any ideas for improvements, I’d love to hear them for next year. This is a Halloween scene I’d like to build on over time. What character should I do next? He’s not perfect, but he clearly captures the spirit of Enoch, and I love him. We're well into Renaissance fair season. This week, I am making a baroque pirate look to wear alongside some of my friends to what we thought was pirate weekend. It turns out that was last weekend. But honestly, that's very pirate of us to just commandeer the weekend and make it Pirate Weekend part two just for us. But anyway, Baroque pirates. Baroque is a style of art, architecture, and design that was really popular in Europe in the 17th and early 18th centuries. It is commonly characterized as being very ornate with elaborate and extravagant decorations, often featuring rich, deep colors with gold adornments. I went to my local fabric store and found this beautiful Jaccard that I knew I had to make the centerpiece of this look. It's still pretty warm out, so instead of doing a full jacket, I want to do more of a long vest look, something I can wear over those light, billowy pirate sleeves. I couldn't find a sewing pattern for this, so I'm going to take this jacket that I like and use that to sketch out a sewing pattern for myself. I am pretty happy with this as a base, and I'm sure you'll agree with me—what really makes something baroque is in the details. So now that I have my base completed, let's add some flair. I have this ribbon that I think I want to use to create little button placket areas—three or four of them down the jacket on each side, with two gold buttons on either side. I may come back and add some actual functionality to the buttons on the inside, but I don't know. There's something about that look that seems very nautical to me and will help me lean into that pirate look. I also picked up this really pretty trim from the local craft store that I think will be a nice touch for a little extra embellishment. I'm going to start by adding it to the bottom of the jacket, and I might also add it to the armholes or the front opening. I'm not sure yet—maybe even the collar. Let's start with the bottom and see where we go. What do you think? I'm obsessed! I’ve added the stripes, and I have the trim added as well. It’s just a fun little detail. I literally just sewed it straight on—nothing too fancy from a construction standpoint. I still want to come back and sew these internal panels down, like whip stitch them to the thick jacquard fabric. I don’t think that will be a problem. The last thing I want to do for this piece is add buttons. I've been on the hunt for some nice gold buttons that are about an inch and a quarter to an inch and a half in diameter, but I haven't been able to find enough to do two buttons on either side of each of these red stripes. So instead, I’m going to pivot and work on the pants. Originally, I was thinking of making some trousers, maybe pantaloons or something of that nature. But it turns out I already own some pants that I think will do the trick. They're just basic black trousers, but I think the buttons on the front give it that breeches look. I’m going to run with these, and to spice things up, I'm going to take the rest of my red ribbon and put some stripes down the side seams of each pant leg. Hopefully, that will be enough to add a little pizzazz. All right, let's jazz up these pants. So, I can’t take this all the way down the side of the leg with my machine. I’ll either have to hand stitch it, which is a possibility (though I hate doing that), or I could open up the inside seam of each pant leg. I’d only have to open up the bottom foot of the inside seam to access the outside seam. Somehow, that feels like the lazier option to me. I just don’t want to hand stitch. Yeah, let’s do it that way. Of course, it went smoothly on the other side, but this side has a side zipper, and I hadn’t thought about accounting for that. What I’m planning to do is split the ribbon down the middle for the zippered area. Depending on how the ribbon frays, I might have to either melt it to stop the fraying or sew a small hem around each side of the zipper. I’m just not sure yet. We’ll figure it out together after...

And welcome to my vlog of DragonCon 2024. I am here in Atlanta and I am so excited and genuinely so honored to have an opportunity to attend this con. I know it's a huge con and a huge deal to so many people. Many people consider it their home con and it just seems to have such a special place in so many people's hearts. So yeah, I'm excited. I'm a little nervous, but I figured I could just take you along with me and we could experience this adventure together. It's actually the day before the con right now. We got in late last night. My friend Ali and I drove down together, and we are staying with Ali's friend Roscoe, who lives two or so miles from the convention itself. Thank you so much, Roscoe, for letting us crash. So far, this place has been amazing. It's really a great staging space for getting cosplays together. Ali has actually already taken a chance to take out all of her cosplays, hang stuff up, make sure if anything needs ironing or steaming or whatever that it's ready to go. But now it's my turn. I'm going to go ahead and start pulling stuff out, unpacking a little bit more, make sure that everything survived the trip down here. So let's get unpacking. Dragon Con is a five-day con Thursday through Monday, and Ali and I both brought 8 to 10 cosplays with the intention of wearing two per day. Needless to say, that was a lot to pack. When packing, I put all of my soft items on hangers and put those cosplay items into a hardshell suitcase so when I got here, I could just pull them out and hang them up directly. More fragile items like my styled wigs got put into a bin, you know, like those plastic bins from the hardware store, and shoes got their own suitcase as well. We did it. It's day one. We're getting ready to make our way over to the con. First thing we have to do is track down our badges, and I don't know, I think at that point, I mean, we're just going to kind of wander, right? Today is just getting a lay of the land, seeing what cool things we can find. No particular agenda until later. Huge shout-out to Sel, or at Copper Cosmonaut here on YouTube and over on all of the social media platforms. They let me borrow this amazing Mizu cosplay from Blue Eye Samurai, and I am obsessed. They absolutely nailed the cosplay itself. I'm just going to sit and revel in being able to portray this character today. Super comfortable, very breathable, pretty good for Hotlanta weather. Yeah, I'm feeling super grateful for them right now. I'm going to go focus on getting hydrated and caffeinated and then we'll go hit the con. See you there. Okay, we're all ready for Bunny Hutch. We were actually just at the end of the line, but it was going to take too long, so we're going to go check out another party first, and then go party with some other bunnies and Hugh Hefner when it's time and there's not such a long line. The Bunny Hutch is a relaxed costume contest that combines a party with a celebration of cosplay. It started as an unofficial meetup and has grown into the official kickoff party for the costuming track. It's a place for both first-time and experienced costume designers to show off their work, combining their favorite fandoms with pinup-style bunnies and playboys.
